Chaharshanbe Soori @ Shiraz (13/03/2018)
We kept the ritual going by doing another 'Chaharshanbe Soori' at Shiraz Restaurant. As usual the place got packed out and the crowd didn't leave until early hours of the morning! A little more info for my non-Persian readers on what this day means to Persians:
Chaharshanbe Soori is an Iranian festival celebrated on the eve of the last Wednesday before Nowrooz (the Iranian New Year's day). The festival consists of activities such as making bonfires and jumping over the flames and a custom similar to trick-or-treating that is called qāšoq-zani literally translated as "spoon-banging". It is observed by people wearing disguises and going door-to-door to hit spoons against plates or bowls and receive packaged snacks.
